Philip’s emerging (and understandable) uncertainty surrounding Rachel’s witch-like tendencies drive the film to its tragic conclusion. She says the tisanas are meant to fix various ailments, but Philip ends up with paralyzing headaches, while Ambrose ends up actually dead.
